Our roots are embedded in the free draining rocks and loess of the riverbed, capturing the character of the land.

Our vines are warmed by day and cooled by night, in an extreme climate influenced by the mountains and sea.

And our philosophy is to bend to nature, letting the Awatere Valley imprint itself upon every Eradus wine. The result is wine that speaks of the old world and the new, with the fruit driven character Marlborough is known for, along with the minerality and crisp clean acidity delivered by this harsh environment.

Our darling daughter Ana-Sophie, was born just after the 2009 vintage. It was she who inspired us to create this wine, which of course bear her name.

Flavours of blackcurrant leaf and passionfruit, balanced with aromas of fresh herbs and citrus. The palate is juicy fruit with a long, crisp mineral finish.

Our vines grow on a slender terrace at the edge of the Awatere River, with a climate and soil structure all of its own. Influenced by a fault line, a river, and the power of the nearby Pacific Ocean, our land is stony and dry, windy and cool, so that our wines have elegance, minerality and crisp clean acidity.

We let the untamable terroir of the Awatere Valley speak through our vines, creating wines that are the Essence of the Awatere.
